Food producers

From the plant to the buyer: acceptance conditions, records and shipments that are smaller than a truck.

A producer's logistics problem is rarely the big shipment. It is the regular one: twice a week, the same hour, the same temperature, the same paperwork. Buyers judge a supplier on that repetition, and it is where small producers lose contracts they had already won on product.

What the buyer checks

The delivery slot, the product temperature measured at goods-in, the carriage record and the match between batch, delivery note and log. For quick-frozen goods, recording ambient temperature with date and time during carriage and keeping the records is a legal requirement, not a customer preference.

Shipments smaller than a truck

Two pallets do not justify a dedicated refrigerated vehicle, and a hired reefer is usually priced by the vehicle rather than by the load. Carrying the cold in the box lets the shipment travel in a standard vehicle, in a carrier's truck or on a shared run with other producers - the regime belongs to the box, so a shared vehicle stops being a temperature problem.

Export and equipment classes

In international carriage of perishable foodstuffs the ATP agreement defines equipment classes and their certification. GEBHARDT states that the Isotec TBX is ATP and HACCP certified for food transport; ask Aris Makina for the current certificate and its scope and we will obtain it from GEBHARDT and pass it on.

Equipment

Pallet-based and wheeled GEBHARDT Isotec TBX containers, eutectic plates in the regime your product needs, freezing racks for the plate cycle, and Suer lashing equipment for securing loads in the vehicle. Send us your weekly shipment count, cases or pallets per shipment and delivery time, and we will lay out the rotation.

Frequently asked questions

Which records are asked for when supplying a retail chain?

In practice: carriage temperature records, goods-in forms, the HACCP procedure and documentation of the equipment used. For quick-frozen food, logging ambient temperature with date and time throughout carriage and keeping the records is additionally a legal requirement.

Do I have to hire a refrigerated vehicle for two pallets?

No. Because an insulated container holds the target regime inside itself, the shipment can travel in a standard vehicle, with a carrier or on a shared run. The decision follows trip count and duration - send us your weekly trip count and we will put the two arrangements side by side.
