Traceability in mobile collection depends on matching each unit to records from collection site through blood-centre receipt. Do not reduce component conditions to one temperature rule.

Different regimes for each blood component show why cold chain basics cannot be reduced to one temperature.

Match unit and container. Link the donation/unit ID used by the blood service’s procedure to collection time, vehicle and transport-container ID. Attach the approved loading diagram, sensor position and logger ID to the dispatch record.

Record timestamps from field closeout through vehicle departure, any wait and centre receipt. The receiving centre checks identity, seal/packaging and records under its procedure; sender and receiver acknowledge handover.

If there is an excursion, container damage or missing record, segregate the unit from available stock and alert the authorised blood-centre lead. Document component-specific review and release decisions in writing under the current procedure.
