In e-commerce the cold chain ends at a doorstep rather than at a cabinet, and that is the hardest place to control. The customer may not be home, the courier may be running three orders at once, and the parcel may ride on a seat rather than in a cold space.
The parcel is the unit, not the pallet
Grocery e-commerce moves single orders, not pallets. Cooling a whole body for six orders is expensive, and cooling nothing at all is a returns problem. The workable middle is an insulated box per order or per route segment, prepared at the dark store and closed until handover.
Quick commerce and the fifteen-minute promise
In fast delivery the temperature risk is not the ride; it is the picking, the waiting for a courier and the second and third stop on a chained route. A pre-cooled box holds the cold through all three without any energy from the vehicle - which also keeps the arithmetic intact on electric and two-wheeled fleets.
Records and disputes
A customer complaint about a thawed product is settled by evidence. A logger placed inside the box shows what that order experienced; a vehicle reading shows an average of a route the customer was never on. For chilled and frozen lines the regulation still asks that the cold chain be maintained and recorded - the channel does not change the duty.

How is cooling handled on electric and two-wheeled fleets?
The box draws no energy from the vehicle: the plates are frozen at the depot and the box travels shut. Because the range calculation is untouched, this is the arrangement used on electric vehicles and motorcycle courier routes.
What is shown when a customer complains?
The record of that specific order, from the logger placed inside the box. A vehicle record is an average of the whole route and shows nothing about a single order. For chilled and frozen lines the record is a duty the regulation already requires.
