When traffic closes a road, the shortest navigation alternative can add stops, outdoor waiting or difficult receipt points. An alternative defined only by kilometres hides that operational impact, so build the route from time items:

  1. Write down the product range, the starting reading and the plate state.
  2. For the main and the alternative route, total driving, stops and receipt, waiting, door-open time and a safety allowance on separate lines.
  3. Define the condition for switching route, the decision time and the new stop order.
  4. Compare the total with the validated range and write down the remaining margin.

An alternative route should be a validated option prepared in advance, not improvisation during the event. If the remaining thermal budget is short, continuing the delivery is not decided automatically; the decision time is linked to the logger record.
