A service container may show different card and body numbers. Record possible causes, such as relabelling or copying; verify before choosing one.
Record the mismatch first. Note card and body numbers separately until the work-order identity is confirmed. Add a photo, date and sending unit.
How identity is confirmed
- Record the permanent mark on the body separately from the card number.
- Check the match in the container pool inventory.
- If the match is unconfirmed, set the container aside and request written confirmation from the inventory owner.
Why labels get replaced
Washing, sun or friction can make a label unreadable. When replacing it, record which source you copied the number from; do not guess.
Where the permanent number belongs
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for identity mark location and durability. Check inventory to confirm a maintenance match.
Even with a digital card
Before typing a number, check body and inventory match. For corrections, retain old and new values, date and editor in the history.
Closing a record before identity is matched leaves it unclear which container the maintenance history belongs to.
Check other containers
For a wrong match, list containers tied to the batch or relabelling record and compare each ID with inventory. Record scope and differences.
Who confirms identity
The inventory owner confirms the body-to-pool match; the technician records both numbers and work-order reference. Then link the card to that ID.
