Gaps on particular devices do not make battery age the cause. Compare device ID, file timing and run conditions with other possibilities.

Build the table

Record device ID, run and last successful sample for each gap. Add service-entry and battery-change dates; they help investigate but do not diagnose.

Check other causes

  • For gaps on new and old devices, review starting, clock, download and file transfer.
  • For one model or device, compare settings, warnings and errors with its manual.
  • For cold-run patterns, check comparable runs and battery indicator; correlation is not proof.

Verify the pattern

Compare gaps and errors across runs for the same device. Even if dates align with battery history, review duration, clock, start and download traces.

Avoid a lifetime estimate

Battery life varies with use, model, settings and temperature. Avoid a general month count; use manual criteria and device records.

Verify warnings on the device

Battery warnings depend on the model. Record status and errors at download; a gap alone does not show a warning appeared.

Keep the device card current

Record battery change, model and check date on the device card for later comparison.

Base the spare plan on evidence. Recurring interruptions may warrant spare-device planning. Set numbers using device availability, maintenance and the site plan.
