Cleaning a medicine transport container depends on its materials and the site procedure, not appearance alone. Do not use the routine cleaning flow after a biological spill.
Match SOP and manufacturer instructions
Check body, seal, and accessory materials and select a compatible cleaning method.
Identify the contaminant
Separate routine residue from biological spills; follow the site’s distinct incident procedure for spills.
Record the process. Note container ID, date, operator, approved product, and result.
Follow use conditions on the chemical label and safety data sheet.
Prepare for reuse
Complete and verify rinsing, drying, and visual inspection under the SOP.
If a seal, surface, or insulation appears damaged, set the container aside for assessment.
Separate clean and dirty flows
Keep containers awaiting cleaning, being processed, and released in designated areas.
Link a spill or failed-cleaning record to the incident and shipment involved.
Take chemical, contact-time, and reuse decisions only from the approved procedure.
