A pallet truck is considered for containers with a compatible pallet base and entry direction; a wheeled unit may need pushing or a purpose-designed towing solution. Verify compatibility, mass and permitted coupling from maker documents before selecting equipment.
Trial the same route with each method. Record total task time, including loading, unloading, turns, queueing, operator changes and empty equipment return. Comparing travel distance alone can hide workload and bottlenecks.
Check gradients, thresholds and pedestrian crossings; verify wheel condition and suitable equipment. Wheeled racks can overturn on slopes and crush or trap hands and feet, so assess the route and safe parking under site procedure.
Document the choice with capacity and compatibility approval, observed task time and operator feedback. Re-trial after a load, route or shift change; do not assume a pallet truck or tractor suits a base not designed for it.
