The interval from harvest through cooling and dispatch can affect cherry quality, but one first-day duration is not a threshold for every cultivar, maturity stage and package. Track exporter and product-protocol targets against lot records.

Build a harvest-to-dispatch timeline. Record grower and orchard/lot identity, harvest time, intake time, starting product condition, pre-cooling start and end, packing and vehicle departure. Link waiting periods to the same lot.

Measure conditions in the actual load. Place the logger where it represents the product conditions; keep device ID and location on the form. Match the temperature profile to harvest and processing records. Set the applicable target by cultivar, buyer specification and the site's validated process.

At arrival, record softening, bruising, stem and decay observations using a defined sample. Compare lots with the same grade, packaging and conditions; do not attribute a quality difference solely to the first 24 hours or one reading.
