Fleet need cannot be derived from daily trip count alone; simultaneous demand, washing/preparation and maintenance downtime also matter.
By container or equipment ID, record warehouse departure, delivery, return, cleaning, preparation and ready-again times.
Count units on route, at customers, in cleaning, under maintenance and ready in storage separately each day. Show peak periods and route variation.
Track missed deliveries, late preparation, cancelled trips and idle capacity over the same period.
Compare owned fleet, rental, shared resources or shift changes using actual costs, lead times and service conditions.
Repeat measurement when demand or process changes; base the decision on records and approval rather than assuming a reserve ratio.
