A full shelf is not always good stock control. Short-life items need decisions based on quantity and the age of each lot.
Track four fields for each item
Track SKU, lot or date, saleable quantity and daily sales together. Exclude damaged or under-review items from usable stock, and keep dates visible.
Estimate stock cover as saleable quantity divided by average daily sales. Compare it with expected demand until the next delivery. If sales vary, compare matching weekdays instead of relying on one average.
Keep earlier-dated stock visible when replenishing. Compare quantities, sales and waste at the next count; change delivery frequency only when your own records support it.
