Temperature and humidity monitoring is useful when someone is assigned to review readings and act on deviations. Take limits for a product or area from its applicable specification and approved procedure.
Define the monitoring purpose
Name the store, refrigerator or transport area, the product or process monitored and the person responsible for decisions. Record temperature and humidity as separate measurement channels.
Create a sensor inventory
Keep a unique ID, model, channel, physical location, installation date and calibration certificate reference for each device. Date both the old and new location when a sensor is moved.
Connect placement to a map
Mark sensor IDs on an area map and reassess whether placement remains representative after changes to doors, airflow or load layout. Link the supporting mapping report.
Test the alarm path
Generate a test alarm under the approved procedure. Record timestamp, recipient, notification channel, acknowledgement and escalation to the backup. Document an alternative route for communication failures.
Complete deviation records
Link device ID, location, start and end time, observed readings, reviewer, notification time and action taken. Follow the authorized quality process for product impact or release decisions.
When commissioning the system, assign record access and backup ownership. Link change, fault and review outcomes to the system's change control.
