Waiting between picking and dispatch stays invisible unless it is recorded. No single fixed duration applies to every product and pack, so first measure the actual timings in your operation.
Link three timestamps to the same order
Record when the product leaves controlled storage, when the pack is closed and when the vehicle is loaded, using the lot or order number. At shift end, calculate the interval from removal to loading and list delayed orders with their causes.
Picking cold-chain items last is an option only where product conditions and workflow support it. The pack type, cold source and staging area must fit the approved method. Set a time target from product requirements and packing data rather than guessing.
If dispatch is delayed
Do not automatically return the product to normal flow when the target wait is exceeded. Preserve the timing and pack-condition records, then request review under the site’s quality process. Use timestamps to improve picking order or dock planning when delays recur.
