To reduce door traffic, first measure where waiting occurs and during which task. Use your warehouse door logs and relevant area readings instead of generic energy or temperature claims.
Set up a simple door log
For each opening, record time, closing time, shift and task reason. If there is no automatic door sensor, use an observation sheet and keep the method consistent during the review period.
Separate entries by task. Label picking, receiving, cleaning and returns for forgotten items separately. Comparing duration by shift and reason shows which step is a candidate for improvement.
Try one process change
Order the picking list by location, prepare needed materials before entry or assign a person to check the door. Test one change at a time.
Check the effect with the same method
Use the same definitions and logging tool in the before and after periods. Review open time, task count and area sensor records together; do not assume causation.
Check the door seal, closer and alarm during maintenance rounds. Follow facility and quality procedures if a fault or area deviation is found.
