Blaming one piece of equipment for cold-store consumption can mislead. Product load, outdoor conditions, door use and maintenance change together. First build a comparable baseline from meter and operating records.

Collect the same data for a week

Record daily meter kWh, operating hours, door-open time, incoming product quantity and its temperature. Note defrost times, room setpoint and outdoor conditions too. Flag days when shifts or throughput changed.

Compare consumption with throughput where possible: kWh per kilogram dispatched. This helps avoid treating a busy day's higher total as lower efficiency.

Test one change at a time

Try one change, such as a door closer, loading sequence, evaporator cleaning or defrost setting. Match throughput and weather between the periods. Estimate energy cost by multiplying kWh by the billed unit rate; show taxes and fixed charges separately.
