A single-use logger often provides data after delivery; an IoT system can transmit readings when connectivity is available. The choice depends on route data needs and alarm workflow.

Match route and device

Check duration, possible delay, coverage, sensor location, battery and memory limits for both options.

Test the alarm response

For IoT, name the alarm recipient and backup, define what to do if connectivity drops, and record responses. Run an exercise from notification through action.

Compare data access

Define when and in what format raw data and reports are available, and how the device number links to the shipment.

Assess the whole process. Include return, disposal and shipment linkage for single-use devices; include connectivity, subscription, battery and system access for IoT. Quality process reviews product deviations for either type.
