When the drop-off point and the signature desk are apart, the identity check can be skipped, visible damage can go unnoticed and the signature comes loose from the container's real condition. A handover station brings the record and the container to one point.
On a busy intake several routes drop containers at once. A queue number and a separate holding bay per route keep the link between each container and its shipment record.
The sequence at the station. Identity scan, visible condition, seal, receipt time and signature are done in the same order on every container and written on one line. A faulty container waits in a separate bay instead of joining normal release. If the station clogs, the check stays; appointments and staffing are adjusted.
