Forcing a thermobox lid shut under dispatch pressure can damage the rim, the lid and the goods together. Follow the closing line around the full perimeter and check four things in order:

  1. Does a pack project into the lid space
  2. Is an inner bag or liner trapped at the edge
  3. Is there soil or ice on the seating face
  4. Does the same gap remain when the box is empty

If it closes empty but not loaded, the layout is the problem: rearrange pack height, cold-source position and fill level. Pulling the lid down with tape or pressing on it is no substitute for a proper layout.

With bagged orders, handles and loose bag mouths can hang over the edge and get caught in the closing face. With the lid open, tuck them inside and do not wrap them round the latch or hinge; if that takes time on every order, trial the bag size with a real load.

If it will not close when empty, take the box out of service, photograph the distortion or crushing and open a damage record.
