Fresh-produce weight can change during storage and transport. To see the amount, measure net weight for the same lot on receipt and dispatch, keeping product type and weighing conditions consistent.

Standardise the weighing

Record the scale and packaging tare. If weighing packaged produce, subtract the same tare method from both measurements.

Match the lot and time

Record product, lot ID, receipt time and quantity. At dispatch, use the same lot and unit of measure.

Add condition data

Link storage duration, product temperature and relative-humidity readings to the record. Note changes to airflow, packaging or handling.

Calculate the percentage

Subtract net outbound weight from net inbound weight, divide the difference by net inbound weight and multiply by 100. State the lot and period in the report.

Repeat with one change

Compare product groups separately. If testing humidification, packaging or airflow, keep other conditions as steady as possible and repeat the weighing; the result alone does not prove a single cause.
