Global cold-store volume gives context about infrastructure; it does not show how many days a particular product can be stored. Separate global totals from usable local capacity.

Read the report scope. The report's survey ran from January to May 2020. Private facilities may be undercounted; changes in country coverage and method affect comparisons across years.

Translate capacity into your workflow

Record product groups, pallet positions required, seasonal peak stock and expected turnover. Allow for aisles and handling space that cannot be used for storage.

Do not confuse volume with storage life. Available space does not prove that the product's storage conditions are met or that it is ready for dispatch.

Locate the local gap

Log quantity and waiting time at receipt, first cooling, storage and dispatch. The constrained stage helps define whether you need fixed space or portable equipment.

Global figures provide context; order and shift records help plan an operation's actual capacity.
