Loading order depends on the boxes and shelf layout. Counting movements in a sample task makes the effect of a change visible.

Compare a change in sequence

Trial the current and proposed sequence with the same number of boxes; record the results.

Note bottom-shelf reach and bend count for each method.

Count turns or repositioning movements per box.

Review the result with the operator; do not assume one sequence suits everyone.

Bringing boxes closer

Measure pallet or trolley position and count steps per box. Also check whether the new position obstructs access or visibility.

Lifting and turning

If simultaneous turning is observed, add it to the task record. Include load and grip conditions in the assessment.

Pallet height

Consider lifting equipment only if maker instructions, load limit and site risk assessment permit it. Check upper-shelf reach after changing height too.

Interaction with the cold area

Measure door-open time with the workflow; verify cold-chain conditions against the relevant procedure.

For a sample load of thirty boxes, mark start and end points and record total steps and bends; do not assume the same result for other tasks.

Choosing a loading height. Assess shelf or platform height in a site trial. Check reach to both shelves, balance and equipment limits, then record the result.
