An ATP certificate goes to the equipment that carries the load, not to the tractor: the insulated body, semi-trailer, container or wagon and, where fitted, its refrigeration unit. Each piece of equipment gets its own certificate of compliance; it is valid for 6 years and is then renewed in 3-year periods after a K-coefficient test on the equipment in service.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Where it appears | ATP plate fixed to the body; class and expiry date in the upper front corners |
| What the class says | Insulation (normal IN, reinforced IR) and cooling type, for example FNA or FRC |
| Insulation limit | K coefficient 0.70 for normal and 0.40 for reinforced, in W/m²K |
| Scope | Road, rail, sea crossings under 150 km; air transport excluded |
ATP applies to cross-border carriage; domestically it applies only if the country declares it. GEBHARDT states that the Isotec TBX is ATP- and HACCP-certified; the ATP certificate belongs to the container itself, not to the body of the vehicle carrying it. State in the specification which equipment is described by which document.
