CEIV Pharma (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics) is IATA's voluntary certification for pharmaceutical handling in the air cargo chain. An assessor spends three to four days on site and checks the quality system, staff training, temperature mapping, quarantine and complaint handling, and transport, road included, against a checklist tied to the IATA Temperature Control Regulations (TCR); what gets certified is the process and the facility, not the product.
- For airlines, airports, cargo terminals and ground handlers it is the mark pharmaceutical customers look for.
- A pharmaceutical shipper finds certified stations in IATA's ONE Source registry.
- A road carrier has no legal duty to hold it; it is needed when a contract requires it.
- A pharmaceutical wholesaler in Türkiye follows the TİTCK good distribution and storage guideline.
The road leg to the airport can be evidenced without the certificate through three documents: the container qualification report, the temperature log for the journey, and the procedure showing what is done on a deviation.
Before deciding to apply, check whether the customer has asked for CEIV Pharma in writing. If not, the same budget spent on container qualification and a records routine evidences the road leg more concretely.
