Do not plan chick shipments as ordinary chilled products. Verify applicable instructions from the hatchery, receiver and carrier for allowed conditions and handling.

Coordinate before dispatch

Confirm the receiver's acceptance time, readiness of the brooding area and vehicle access to the loading point. If a wait is possible, identify owners and the instruction to follow in advance.

Check load and airflow. Check that crate type, stacking arrangement and airflow path follow carrier instructions. If the vehicle uses monitoring, link sensor location, device ID and calibration record to the trip form.

Log route events

Record departure and arrival, stops, start and end of waits, vehicle faults and actions taken. If outside conditions are measured, state the instrument and its location.

Verify handover. Record delivery time, counting method, observations and receiver acknowledgement. Escalate unusual observations promptly to the responsible animal-health professional; do not assume release or suitability.

Link trip records to lot, route and carrier. If repeated waiting or handover problems appear, review the next trip plan with the hatchery and carrier.
