A refrigerated body cooling-unit price cannot be read from one capacity figure. Body dimensions, target regime, power arrangement and installation scope can make the same named unit part of a different quote. First check that both quotes describe the same job and delivery scope.
Compare quotes on the same scope
| Line | Information | Included or separate? |
|---|---|---|
| Regime | chilled/frozen target, ambient, door pattern | sizing assumptions |
| Body | internal dimensions, door, insulation, airflow space | body and modifications |
| Power | engine-driven, independent, electric standby | connection, cable, fuse |
| Control | controller, alarm, logger, sensor | device, software, access |
| Delivery | installation, test, commissioning, service | labour, travel, parts |
Ask for the capacity unit, target box temperature, ambient condition and road/standby operating mode alongside the rating. Do not directly compare capacity figures stated for different conditions. Body dimensions and insulation construction, doors, incoming cargo temperature, ambient exposure and airflow are selection inputs; choosing a larger unit alone does not establish that insulation or airflow problems are resolved.
The Thermo King Precedent manual treats preconditioned cargo, cargo temperature, airflow and return air as separate checks. A quote should therefore state operating conditions and commissioning scope, not only compressor or nominal capacity.
On Thermo King's North American V-800 page, configuration 10 has the road compressor and 20 adds electric standby. The capacity table also separates road and standby ratings at different temperature conditions. As this example shows, include the configuration after the model name and the intended standby connection in the quote.
Separate installation responsibilities in writing: any body cutting or reinforcement, connections, drains, cables, controls, tests and commissioning. State which checks will be performed at handover and which record will show the outcome. Include unit mass and its footprint in the layout and payload calculation.
Check the logger, sensors, alarms, software subscription and report-export access separately. Tie refrigerant type, applicable service requirements, warranty scope and service/parts quotation to the actual model. Do not assume a universal price ranking or payback period; carry period expenses separately into the operating-cost worksheet.
Mark each row as included, excluded or to be confirmed. Do not treat a missing line as zero cost: if it could change the price comparison, obtain clarification before deciding. Keep the quotation date, validity, currency and tax/delivery scope in the same file.
