GCCA builds the list by ranking its member operators by the total temperature-controlled space they report. By region, the picture is as follows.
| Group | Space | Increase since 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Global Top 25 | 7.76 billion ft³ (219.7 million m³) | 460 million ft³ (6.3%) |
| North America Top 25 | 5.26 billion ft³ (148.9 million m³) | 260 million ft³ |
| Europe Top 10 | 1.6 billion ft³ (45.3 million m³) | 172 million ft³ |
| Latin America Top 10 | 634.2 million ft³ (18 million m³) | 56.2 million ft³ |
GCCA notes that Latin America's 8.6% growth was driven largely by mergers and acquisitions, while North America and Europe show more measured, organic investment in a cautious capital environment.
To turn the list into something for your own business you need three numbers: how many pallet positions you have, how many pallets pile up in your peak week, and how many days the gap lasts. With them you ask operators in the destination country for written capacity and appointment confirmation by commodity, week and pallet size; growth among the large operators does not mean rentable free space.
