Plan for discounter and supermarket channels from actual customer order and receiving data, not from their labels. The same product may come with different case, booking or returns conditions.
Extract customer requirements before quoting
For each channel, collect SKU and order-line counts, average and largest order, case or pallet arrangement, delivery window and receiving wait. Confirm shelf-ready cases, remaining-life conditions, returns and delay deductions from the customer’s written specification.
Then calculate trip cost from stops, loading and unloading time, waiting and returned packaging. Compare these fields using the same definitions across channels; test whether mixed delivery needs separate handling or routing against actual capacity data.
This comparison cannot predict which channel is more profitable. Compare actual orders, shipment and return records with quote assumptions, then update the next plan.
