Choosing a delivery unit only by how much space it uses in the vehicle is not enough. Store access, aisles, receiving area, and empty returns also shape the flow.
Check pallet access. Measure door and aisle width, turning space, and the handling equipment used in the store. Record whether the pallet must be broken down inside.
Count crate handling. For the same product quantity, record transfers from vehicle to shelf and where goods are left exposed. If temperature control is required, follow the product procedure’s measurement method.
Test wheeled containers in the same flow
Check the unit’s dimensions, passage through the door, access to the aisle, and empty-return conditions. Insulation alone does not prove a particular temperature outcome.
Compare by store
For the same quantity, compare elapsed time from receipt to shelf, handling steps, and space used on the empty return. Choose by store and product group.
Include the container pool. Track container type and count in delivery and return records. Decide in advance how different units are separated on return and where they wait at the depot.
