The choice between active refrigeration and passive containers cannot be made from labels such as “urban” or “long distance.” Assess product requirements together with actual route records.
Measure the route profile
Record trip start and finish, stops, waiting, door events, product load and delivery windows. Match near-product sensor profiles with vehicle operating logs and external conditions. Select comparable trips on the same route.
For passive transport, document the exact container, plate or other coolant configuration and validated test conditions. For active transport, include refrigeration-unit, energy and fault records. Check whether each method meets the buyer's acceptance criteria for the product.
Calculate costs per route
Use invoices for vehicle, labour, energy, maintenance, containers, cleaning and preparation. Compare busy and quiet periods separately; do not present an assumption as achieved savings. Re-measure and review the method when product, route or load changes.
