The rental versus purchase break-even depends on usage and contract terms. One price or trip count cannot be applied to different businesses.
Define the same job and period
Fix the container type, planning period, delivery volume and required service level. Use your own trip records for volume.
For rental, include period fees, transport, cleaning, damage, late return and loss terms. Clarify uncertain charges in the contract or quote.
For ownership, include purchase plus washing, maintenance, storage, loss and idle-time costs. Base useful-life assumptions on your damage and replacement records.
Calculate both totals at different trip or usage-day volumes. The range where costs cross for the same period and service is your break-even.
Model peak season separately; use a mixed model for base and peak volume only if the total cost supports it.
Recalculate with the same fields when a quote or usage frequency changes.
