A close-up of a box or gauge alone does not identify its shipment. Pair each image with the container number and goods-in record.
Four elements
- The container number or label.
- The issue: damage, a gauge reading or an open lid.
- Context: dock or warehouse.
- Date and time: check the device record.
One wide, one close
Show the container and number in one frame, the damage in another. Include part of the number in the close frame.
Where flash misleads
Flash can change how condensation and frost appear on a cold surface. Use ambient light; if unclear, take another frame without flash.
Where the photo goes. Save the image with the record number the same day. Do not leave it only on a phone; note its file location in the record.
What it does not show
A photo shows one moment, not how long a lid stayed open. Check the relevant record for duration.
A good photo remains identifiable with its shipment later.
Whose phone takes it
Use the receiving side's device and storage location; a driver's image may never reach the consignee's record.
When a photo is not enough
A photo cannot settle doubt about the product inside or its temperature. Take the required measurement and link its result to the record.
