At goods-in, the opening moment determines the conditions for the first observation and measurement. Rather than assigning responsibility automatically to whoever opens the lid, agree the handover sequence in both parties' procedures and contract.

Record identity and time before opening. Write the vehicle arrival time, container ID and match to the delivery note or dispatch record. If sealed, record seal number and condition before opening; take the measurement method from the delivery terms.

Make the first opening a joint observation. The agreed person opens the lid with the receiver's representative and, where required, driver present. Record load arrangement, interior condition and readings with device IDs; add the opening time to the form.

Separate a discrepancy from product disposition. For a differing reading, damage or shortage, keep both parties' observations on the same record with photos and device details. Notify before the driver leaves and follow the contract's notice step; refer acceptance or rejection to the authorized quality process.
