Do not choose a disinfectant only because it is strong or commonly used. The product label, container materials and cleaning procedure must be compatible.
Read the labeled application conditions
For wet cleaning, remove gross debris, apply detergent and rinse; disinfect afterward where needed. Follow the product manufacturer's directions for concentration, contact time and whether a post-disinfection rinse is required.
Confirm compatibility with container materials
Check manufacturer care instructions for the body, gasket, lid and any food-contact surfaces. If compatibility is unstated, request written confirmation from your supplier before use.
Record the application
Add chemical name, lot, preparer, application time and rinse check to the cleaning record. If damage or residue is observed, segregate the container and review it under the quality procedure.
