A door turning on its hinge sweeps an arc in front of the box, and the radius of that arc is the distance from the hinge axis to the far edge of the door. If the door is 800 mm wide, roughly that much clear space is needed in front at 90 degrees.
- Read the hinge position, door width and maximum opening angle from the model drawing.
- Put the box where it will park and chalk the arc the door sweeps on the floor.
- If a rack, wall, neighbouring box or vehicle door falls inside the arc, the layout does not work. Open a loaded box with locked castors and test access to the product.
If the layout fails, change the opening side, the parking position or the model before ordering. If the doors cannot open inside a vehicle body, the loading order becomes fixed: last in, first out, which affects the route plan of a multi-stop round. If a magnet or holder keeps the door open, test it in the same trial, because a tight space may prevent full opening.
