The weight of a container and the knock of a forklift pass through the steel base hardware, such as the pallet, castor plate and impact profile, and weld quality cannot be judged by eye. So the buyer looks not at the seam but at the document that shows how the welding is controlled.
| Standard | What it governs |
|---|---|
| ISO 3834-2 | Comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding |
| ISO 3834-3 | Standard quality requirements for fusion welding |
| EN 1090 | Execution of steel and aluminium structures, CE-marked structural components |
GEBHARDT's welding certificate covers the production of welded steel constructions, special load carriers and containers. Its website names the standard as EN ISO 3834-3:2005, while the printed catalogue says ISO 1090 and 3834-2:2021; read the edition from the certificate itself. The document to ask for in a container quotation is ISO 3834; EN 1090 is for CE-marked structural components.
Ask Aris Makina for the certificate number and its scope; we obtain it from GEBHARDT and pass it on. At delivery look at the welds on the base hardware: even, continuous, free of spatter. Where welding was done after galvanising, that zone is unprotected and rust starts there.
