Dry ice and eutectic plates do not use the same operating workflow. Switching between them requires a joint review of product requirements, route, preparation facilities and shipping method.
Write down the product and route conditions first
Record the product's labelled storage conditions, shipment duration, waits and transfers, and likelihood of delivery delays. Validate plate melting point and quantity against those details, the container and the load; plan dry-ice quantity against the actual route conditions too.
Compare the operating constraints
Plates need preparation in advance, sufficient freezer capacity and, for returnable use, a plan for recovering empty containers and plates. If using dry ice, check worker safety, ventilation, handling and carrier acceptance against authorised procedures.
Decide from a trial shipment. Test the selected arrangement with the real packaging, load and route. Review product-temperature records, delays, required coolant quantity and delivery condition together. Using dry ice and plates in one packout is not a default solution without separate validation.
