Choose between a closed display case and an open multideck using more than an energy label or a sales assumption. A label test value and store-measured use may reflect different conditions; compare the same operation under similar use.

For the same case, record separate-meter kWh before and after conversion, operating days, and opening patterns. Note season, product category, fill level, settings, and maintenance. If these differ, do not treat the periods as directly equivalent.

Use POS data for the same category and comparable time windows to assess sales. Do not treat units or revenue alone as success; compare product availability and waste records too. Where possible, follow a similar case without the change as a control.

Divide period kWh by operating days for a daily measure, and report conversion cost and sales indicators separately. Track door seals, closure, and maintenance condition too. A result from one store does not automatically apply to a different case or operating pattern.
