During a cabinet failure, service and product assessment should proceed in parallel. First stop unnecessary door opening, record when the failure was noticed and note the last normal record. Do not assume whether goods should stay or move before product and backup-area conditions are known.

Identify the affected stock

Match lot and product codes in the cabinet to loading and sales movements between the last normal record and discovery of the failure. Check the alarm sensor and measurement conditions; separately measure a representative product with a suitable instrument. Do not mix the sensor value and product reading in one record field.

Activate the backup location and owner

The contingency plan should state whom to call, who contacts service and which suitable cabinet or storage area can be used. Record lot identity, exit and entry time, and readings for transferred stock. If an insulated container is used as temporary holding, confirm it fits the product procedure and equipment conditions.

Make product disposition traceable

The applicable product instruction and authorised responsible person should determine release, hold or destruction; one cabinet reading does not apply to every product. Keep failure time, readings, affected quantity, transfer, service findings and decision-maker in one incident record. Do not restock the cabinet after repair until its commissioning check is complete.
