Baseline and denominator
Choose a baseline period and unit. Reporting packaging waste in kilograms alongside goods processed or shipments helps separate activity changes from waste changes.
Make the counter usable
Specify the source, such as weigh tickets, warehouse issues or maintenance records. Use the same material definitions and method each period.
Assign an owner
Name who records the measure, who reviews it and what happens when it deviates. The environmental team can sponsor a target, but keep the records accessible to operators.
Trial a small workflow
Test data collection on one route or product group. Fix missing weights, returns and material sorting before expanding the target.
Support the report with evidence. Show the baseline, period, denominator and method with the result. If only absolute weight changed, show the change in activity volume too.
