City delivery hours, vehicle rules and building access can vary by location. Do not plan night distribution as one rule for an entire city; confirm current conditions for every route and delivery point.

Verify before building the route

For each stop, record permitted delivery hours, vehicle or weight limits, loading access, key or entry method and recipient contact. Keep the source and date for conditions received from the municipality, building management, store and carrier.

Pilot one route. Collect arrival and departure times, door-to-door duration, dock waiting, product readings and any noise or complaint record. For unattended delivery, also record who receives the load and when the product is checked.

When comparing night with day, use the same product group, stop count and service scope. Consider any traffic-time saving alongside access, waiting, staffing, noise and product-condition costs.

Pilot results support route-level decisions. If a stop has no permitted or safe delivery method, leave it out of the night plan and reconfirm requirements when conditions change.
