Floods can combine water, electrical and structural hazards. Follow competent authorities' instructions for safe access and response before handling products or equipment.
Secure the site and evidence
Do not enter a flooded area or operate electrical equipment until authorized teams say it is safe. After qualified inspection, photograph affected areas, water level and stock locations. Copy alarm, temperature, lot and dispatch records, and note when they were accessed.
Separate affected from apparently unaffected stock; wiping a package does not undo water exposure. Confirm current official food-safety instructions for the flood source and product packaging with the competent authority. Document any release, reprocessing or disposal decision under an authorized procedure.
Have equipment assessed before use. Do not decide independently to clean and restart a cabinet, insulated container or electrical unit. Obtain manufacturer care instructions and qualified service assessment; record findings for cavities, insulation and electrical components that may have taken in water. Check insurance and official notification requirements against the relevant authority, policy and local procedure.
