Listing instrument names is not enough to explain the history of temperature measurement. For every source, verify what was measured, the scale and how data was recorded.

Build the timeline from sources. NIST records Kelvin's 1848 publication on an absolute temperature scale. State the source and measurement principle; distinguish it from today's continuous logging.

Connect history to current use

Explain the difference between a spot reading and a time series; note that surface, air and product-core readings are not interchangeable. In operational records, retain device ID, calibration or comparison evidence, sensor location and timestamps.
