The difference between incoming and outgoing weight shows product loss, but does not identify its cause. To assess humidity, match the product, duration, and measurement conditions; log packaging, sorting, and handling changes separately.
Weigh representative crates from the same batch on receipt. Reweigh those crates at dispatch on the same scale with similar tare conditions. Percentage weight change = (incoming weight - outgoing weight) / incoming weight × 100. Record the batch, measurement times, and scale ID.
Log temperature and relative humidity where the product is held. Use a record covering the storage period rather than a single spot reading; note sensor location and last check date. Get the applicable storage condition from the supplier or customer specification.
Compare results by batch and days in storage. Do not combine different products, packaging, or durations into one average. If loss rises while humidity conditions also change, investigate the link as a lead, not proof of cause and effect.
