A parcel network is a transport channel; the temperature assurance comes from the packaging and the measurement. Chapter 9 of the EU Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines puts it this way: the supplying wholesaler must be able to show that the temperature stayed within acceptable limits during transport, and for temperature-sensitive products qualified packaging, controlled containers or controlled vehicles are used. A carrier's fast-delivery promise does not meet that condition.

The risk mostly builds up at the sorting hub. The guidelines ask for particular attention to temperature monitoring wherever the route includes reloading or transit storage, and for that waiting to be kept as short as possible. A Friday delivery that fails and rolls over to Monday is therefore part of the plan: where the parcel will be held, how temperature will be monitored and who decides about the product are written down beforehand. Under the guidelines, delivery goes to the address on the delivery note and to the consignee, and the goods are not left elsewhere.

For a passive box, the test conditions matter, not the hours in the marketing text. WHO's supplement on shipping containers has the performance test run with minimum and maximum product load, under hot and cold ambient profiles. If those conditions do not match the real shipment, the duration on the box label does not apply to it. GDP also requires that cool packs never touch the product directly. Packaging qualification does not replace the carrier's acceptance of medicines; for commercial shipments the responsible parties and service scope sit in a written contract.

If the record comes from a logger inside the parcel, the recipient reads it at delivery. Keep the opening time, package condition and data file; opening the parcel does not erase the earlier temperature data. A single reading at delivery does not show the whole journey. When there is an excursion, the product is set aside under suitable storage conditions, and the carrier's scan times and the logger file go to the quality assessment. For personal medicine, if the next dose is close, agree a continuity plan with the pharmacist or doctor.
