Set branch allocations from demand and turnaround records rather than dividing units equally. First count what is at each site, in use, washing or waiting over the same dates.
Use one movement ledger. For each unit, record ID, current branch, departure and arrival dates, and status. Log delivery, return, central replenishment and inter-branch transfers in the same format.
Estimate need from the use cycle. Compare dispatch counts and peak days by branch with loaded/empty turnaround and wash waiting time. Assign the steady requirement to each branch and plan to cover temporary peaks from the central pool.
Adjust allocation at reconciliation
At period end, match physical counts to movement records. Investigate idle accumulation or recurring shortages and revise assignments; verify transfer terms in the relevant contract where ownership differs, such as at a franchise.
