A single-point failure occurs when losing one resource stops the entire cold delivery. The resource may be more than a vehicle: power, a freezer, a critical supplier, staff or one loading location can also be a dependency.
Map dependencies. For each route, list the equipment, power, location and staff needed to prepare the goods. Beside each resource, note affected deliveries if it fails and name any available alternative. If there is none, mark the dependency as an open risk.
Compare outage demand with backup
Use past incident records to find the affected duration and the volume due for delivery during it. Compare that with the actual capacity the backup can provide for the same period and product conditions. The uncovered amount is unmet demand; do not count estimated capacity as ready backup.
Test the transfer plan
Specify who decides, where goods move and which records follow them to the new route. After a desk review, run a practical exercise with the backup vehicle, site or equipment and record duration and capacity. Update the result when routes or shifts change.
