Run, wash and maintenance records use the same container identity; when intervals overlap, first examine the identity and basis for each time.

Find the overlap

Sort entries for each container by time and compare start and end intervals. Keep time zone, logger clock and entry time in separate fields.

Possible explanations

  1. A label was misread or two containers received the same number.
  2. An event was entered later from memory; the entered time may not be the event time.
  3. Site and device clocks may have different settings.

Reconcile the records

Check the label or serial number; compare run sheet, wash cycle and entry and exit records. An overlapping row alone does not prove which record is correct.

Why it matters. An unreconciled interval leaves uncertainty in the container history. For product or run decisions, follow the authorized quality process and applicable product requirements.

Make corrections traceable

Do not delete the raw row. Record old and new values, supporting document, rationale and person making the change in a correction note.

Review recurrence

If one number overlaps repeatedly, sample physical identity checks. If entries cluster on one shift, check how entry time is distinguished from event time; a pattern alone does not prove cause.
