At large retail chains goods receiving runs on appointments: the supplier books a slot, the vehicle is at the dock at that time and unloads. Booking, changing and cancelling a slot follow the chain's own rules. Enter the registration and driver details before loading starts, because a wrong entry can delay you at the gate.
Count the loading time backwards from the slot: loading time, travel time and a traffic allowance. A vehicle that arrives early takes space in front of the dock, and one that is late joins the queue until a free slot appears; either way the cold load waits in a closed vehicle and a passive container spends its margin.
Keep the door shut while you wait. For every delivery write down scheduled and actual arrival, gate entry and unloading finish, and leave a traffic allowance between the slots of two consecutive stores.
