A new-vehicle decision should not rely on daily order count alone. Track round time, vehicle use and delivery performance over the same period to see where current capacity is lost.
Find the bottleneck in your records
For every run, log loading start and finish, departure and return, stops and service time. Add used vehicle volume and payload capacity, empty return volume and deferred orders. Track volume and weight separately: one can be full while the other is underused.
The log separates losses caused by waiting, preparation, routing or load arrangement. If a vehicle returns early but the next load is not ready, trial a change to preparation flow. If empty containers take up return space, measure the actual return volume of nesting or folding alternatives.
For a second run or mixed-load pilot, track product conditions, loading time and openings at each stop. Compare the result with the current setup; added capacity is useful only while product conditions are maintained.
