Keep a breakdown card with driver and quality contacts, carrier number, shipment identity and an approved alternative site. If a failure occurs, avoid unnecessary door openings and note the time, location, unit alarm and logger status.
Do not stop the logger or erase its data. Preserve independent temperature records even if the unit appears to be running. Do not decide based on an assumed repair time or a guessed number of hours of insulation protection.
The quality lead reviews the temperature trace, product instructions and shipment conditions before deciding to wait, transfer or quarantine. If transfer is approved, record the new vehicle or container, time, product lots and any data gap.
